Statewide heat advisory in effect for hot weather and high humidity – NBC Connecticut


A heat advisory is in effect statewide for hot temperatures and high humidity as we begin a new work week.

Today there will be abundant sunshine, high humidity and temperatures will be warm with highs near 95 degrees. The “feel” temperature will be within 100 seconds away from the water.

The maximums for the shore will be between 80 and 86 degrees.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will also be warm with highs near 95 degrees on both days away from shore.

There is a risk of scattered thunderstorms every day from Tuesday to Thursday.

Friday it cools down with highs in the 70s. Showers are possible.

  • Stay in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible. If you must be outdoors, try to limit your outdoor activities to the morning and evening. Try to rest often in shady places so that your body has a chance to cool off.
  • Find an air-conditioned shelter. (Call 2-1-1 for a list of cooling centers). Don’t rely on a fan as your primary cooling device.
  • Avoid direct sunlight.
  • Wear light, light-colored clothing.
  • Take cool showers or baths.
  • Check those most at risk several times a day.
  • Animals that cannot be brought indoors should have easy access to water and shade to keep them cool.
